This is an online version of the printed paper available on the Kent State University campus. We believe in free speech and freedom of ideas. We believe that the role of any and all independent media should be to present viewpoints and information that are not otherwise made available in the corporate press.
We believe that the root cause of all social ill in American society is the fact that the systems of information distribution have been taken from the people and, like most everything else that was once good, been turned into instruments of corporate profit.
Five corporations own virtually all sources of information and opinion; people are indoctrinated from infancy to become rabid consumers and sycophantic nationalists. We believe that the only way to reverse these problematic currents is for individuals to combat them through participation and engagement in independent and local forms of media.
Small, local efforts, when aggregated together with other small-scale efforts, can and will yield large-scale structural change.
